1. Description
With our FREE, simple Email to SMS
Gateway you can send and receive SMS messages via any
email program (e.g. Outlook, Hotmail, GMail etc.) or
application with email functionality (monitoring tools,
databases, websites etc.).
For the majority of your texting requirements
we recommend our Online
SMS Service, however for quick and simple texting
without the need for logging in to your account our
Email to SMS Gateway is perfect.
2. Example Uses
There are thousands of example uses for SMS texting, here are just a few:
- Internal Communications
Send texts to work colleagues, customers or clients from your email program.
- 2 Way Communication
In conjunction with our Dedicated
Inbound Number you can send an email which
will arrive as a text on your recipient’s phone.
They can then reply straight back by sending a text
which will then arrive in your Email Inbox (which
you can then reply to).

4. Outbound SMS Guidelines
To send a text through your email application please use the following guidelines:

Emails must be sent from your registered Txtlocal email address. If you need to send from other email addresses simply add "email aliases" in your account settings. |
| To & Cc Fields |
In order to send a text the recipients need to be inserted using the following format:
MobileNumber@txtlocal.co.uk
For instance:

Multiple recipients can be added in both the TO and CC fiends of your email application. |
Subject Field

Use sender= in the subject line to send your messages from any 11 character originator or up to 14 digit telephone number (if different to you Txtlocal online settings). E.g. sender=MyCompany or sender=441684566395 |

You can
type a message up to 600 characters.
At the end of the message please add:
##
Anything after the ## will not be sent.
Please remember to use ## to ensure you don’t send your signature, any company email disclaimers or virus wording. |
| Bulk recipients method 1 |
In addition to placing bulk recipients in the TO and CC lines of the email, you can also place them after the ## terminator. For example:
Don't forget the meeting at 12:30pm.##

As with any message, the text after the ## will not be sent to the handset, but a copy of the text will be sent to all the listed numbers. |

You can even forward an email to a pre created Txtlocal.com group!
Please email
support@txtlocal.com
with your loginID and the name of the group. We will tell you the Group ID.
You can then trigger a message to a Txtlocal group by sending an email to
anything@txtlocal.co.uk
Subject:GROUP=xxxxx
.. and the email will be forwarded to the group whatever the size! |
Finally, in order to ensure that the message is sent, please ensure that the email address you are sending from is the same as the one you use to log into your Online SMS account.
If you wish to send from an alternate
email address (or add addresses for your whole company),
simply add them using your online Account Settings page.
5. Inbound SMS to email forwarding
If you use any of our Short Code, Shared Inbound or Dedicated Inbound numbers then you automatically receive an email when someone texts in.
If you wish to reply back to the customer with a text message, simply hit the ‘Reply’ button, type your message and press ‘Send’. Remember to end your message with ##.
6. Prices
With our Email To SMS service you only
pay for the messages you send. There is no set-up fee
or monthly contract. We only use premium UK routes (no offshore!) and credits do not expire.
You purchase bundles of credits. A
credit allows you to send 1 text message to 1 person
– so if you want to send 1 text message to 100
people you need 100 credits. Your credits last indefinitely
and can be bought from your account using all major
credit or debit cards. Larger bundles can be paid for
by BACS or cheque by calling us on 0845 009 3180.
We give 10 FREE credits with every
